Jerry Staples was born in Toronto and raised in Mississauga, Ontario, in a very musical family. His father was jazz vibraphone player, Nick Staples and his uncle trumpet/ trombone player, Rod Staples.
His main music influences are jazz and blues, but he's always been open to any style of music.
Jerry plays and collects many instruments. His main instruments are guitar, bass, tenor sax and piano. Jerry is known as much for his songwriting as for his playing. He is working on his third CD of all original music, with the Free Agents Band members, Ofer Dagan and Jim Bruton. He also rehearses and performs with classical guitarist, Norma Pokocky.
Jerry resides in Erin, Ontario with his wife, Melissa and four kids, all of whom are musical. There is always something musical going on at the Staples log house, be it a recording project or jam session or music concert.
